The bolero dance steps are very slow and romantic, beginning by holding for two beats, stepping to the side, rocking back and then forward, following a slow-quick-quick pattern. Dance the bolero steps with a demonstration from a professional ballroom dance instructor in this free video on dance.

It’s better to demonstrate facing the mirror, so that we can see the move from both sides.

I am not sure what …
I am not sure what some of the comments are about… Bolero is not the same count as Cha Cha, Bolero breaks on 3-4(7-8), Cha cha is on 2-3 Break. Rumba in American Style on 3-4 same as Bolero, but Rumba in International style breaks like cha cha, on 2-3. Please stop commenting about counts/timing if you are unsure, this video is intended for Beginners, do not get them on the wrong count from the start… Goodluck to all dancers!!!

    in almost all dance …
in almost all dance forms the man starts with his left foot. The only exception i can think of is line dancing. This is even true of the basic step for break dancing!

Rock step in cha is on 2-3, in bolero the quick quick is on 3-4, so i dont know what your teacher was smoking but the count is most certainly not the same as cha-cha.

In bolero, which foot does the lead break forward on?

    Bolero is similar …
Bolero is similar to the rumba (a very slow one) according to my dance teacher but has the same count as the cha-cha. If that makes sense. You can translate the cha-cha steps into bolero better than the rumba steps.

There are many ways to dance, and I appreciate Rosario’s lesson. As a lead, I know to mirror the Lady’s part. Rosario, I would like to see more. Muchas Gracias

    You suck! Sorry, …
You suck! Sorry, but you should always teach the man’s part. Also, the Bolero is not counted in “quick, quick, slows”. You would know that if you were properly trained.
